Tom grew up in Westerville, Ohio, and joined the Air Force after high school. He moved to Iowa after getting out of the Air Force and met his wife, Margaret. They started attending Antioch in 1984. Tom and Margaret have 2 grown children, Dean and Kathleen, and are also proud grandparents. Tom likes to build cars and trucks. He also enjoys fishing, hunting, and studying the Bible.
