THE PORT

Welcome to the Port!

Our K – 5th grade programming exploded recently when we introduced the new 2:52 Basics curriculum and KidZone family productions.

2:52 is a unique approach to Sunday programming built around 3 Basic Beliefs every child should embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52 (“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men”).

1. I need to make the WISE choice
2. I can TRUST God no matter what
3. I should treat OTHERS the way I want to be treated

Each basic belief is amplified with several KEY TRUTHS and systematically taught over a 3-year track. The curriculum teaches 150 BIBLE STORIES and uses a CORE VIRTUE and MEMORY VERSE as the framework for each month.

VIRTUE EXAMPLES:

Contentment – “Choosing to be happy with what you’ve got.”
Trust – “Putting your confidence in someone you can depend on.”
Discipline…….doing what you need to do even when you don’t feel like it.”

It’s not plain old “Sunday school”- it’s SUNDAY SMALL GROUPS for the appropriate age groups to foster healthy learning and dialogue with each other and with the Small Group Leader/Teacher. Wow…group and peer conversations that facilitate WISE decision making skills for the situations kids face these days…what a deal!!

Sunday programming is typically based around a 3 part rotation…

PLUG IN…is designed to introduce children to the day’s topic in a setting that gives them individualized attention from their Small Group Leader and plenty of interaction with a small group of peers.
POWER UP…is designed to help engage children in worship in a large group setting. Music, prayer, and an innovative approach to the Bible story are always a part of this interactive time.
CATCH ON…is designed to help the kids understand how the day’s topic applies to them. They’ll discuss real life experiences, interact with a close-knit group of peers, and participate in a variety of activities that appeal to different learning styles.

Through the Bible verses and stories, the Core Virtues, the awesome Worship music, the humor of the drama and cast of characters, KidZone strives to be a catalyst for the family to revolve around together. We love your kids…no doubt…but there’s 168 hours in each given week and we only get them at church for about 60 – 75 minutes. You can do the math where the greatest influence comes from.

Don’t be shy…this is innovative and exciting stuff…you’ll be glad you came!
